Letting go and embracing mystery in painting

Intuitive artwork by its nature has no preconceived finished article. Process is everything. Change is possible. Magic happens. At least sometimes it does. My experiments on canvas this year, and that it how I am treating each and every painting, as an experiment, have been catalysts for change in more ways than in my painting style.

  1. Mary, thanks for following artcalling. There are similarities in thinking, I feel.
I’ve got a hospital stay coming up and have just ordered the Bowley book, it seems just the thing for me, as I have been moving away from my realistic work and could use a little push to loosen up some more.
I really like the colors and vibrancy of your work.
Thanks for recommending the book, it will inspire me to get home and painting really quickly. Sarah

  2. Mary, I am so glad you found my blog because now I have found yours and I am already inspired by your thoughts! Cheers!

      • yes the TED talk on how fear of failure after the success of Eat, Pray, Love is wonderful – Big Magic has become quite a manual to me – so many things that I have thought but she puts it all into words so beautifully 🙂
